Each year, car aficionados can bid on highly coveted automobiles at the Barrett-Jackson Auction to benefit charities. This year, two Corvette models were up for grabs, netting $2.325 million, which will be used to benefit military veterans.
The first car up for auction was the Corvette Carbon 65 Edition, which was signed by President George W. Bush himself. The owner of Atlantic Automotive Group, John Staluppi, managed to outbid everyone for this treasure and took home the Corvette for $1.4 million. That money will go to the Bush Center’s Military Service Initiative, which helps post-9/11 vets and their families as they transition back into civilian life.
The second Barrett-Jackson Auction Corvette on the auction block was the Corvette ZR1, the fastest and most powerful production Corvette model ever released. Rick Hendrick, who chairs the Hendrick Automotive Group but is better known for his 12-time NASCAR Cup Series-winning Hendrick Motorsports team, nabbed the ZR1 for $925,000, which will benefit the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
GM prides itself for its commitment to veterans, with more than 6,000 veterans currently employed within the company and 50,000 GM retirees who have served our country.

Chevrolet trimmed up to 450 pounds off the Silverado for improved efficiency and will offer eight different models and six engine/transmission choices, one of which is the new Duramax 3.0-liter inline-six diesel.
2019 Ram 1500: The new Ram 1500 was also on display. While it doesn’t compare to the Chevy Silverado, it does have some strong points, like a 225-pound weight reduction and a max payload increase.
2019 Ford Ranger: A new entrant to the market is the 2019 Ford Ranger, a mid-size truck that competes with the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon. As of yet, it doesn’t seem to offer the same cutting-edge technologies that you get in the Colorado and
