When Chevy finally introduced a new generation of the Traverse after a decade on the market, gear-heads knew it was going to make a big splash. Now that the new Traverse is out in the world, reviews are pouring in, and the decision is just about unanimous: the 2018 Traverse is refined, sophisticated, and rides like a dream.
Kelley Blue Book calls the new Traverse “not just better—one of the best,” citing its tasteful design and proportions; a modern, fashion-forward interior; and an ease of driving in the city despite its big size. The KBB reviewer put 700 miles on the Traverse in this test drive and came to the conclusion that it beats even leading competitors in terms of size and features.
Consumer Reports also put out a glowing 2018 Chevrolet Traverse review. The outlet was impressed with the Traverse’s “cavernous” cabin, exceptional visibility through the windshield, and intuitive infotainment technologies. It was also a fan of the reduced cabin noise and improved fuel economy.
These are just a few of the positive reviews the new Traverse has received since it debuted months ago. To find out more about this smart, sophisticated three-row SUV or if you want to take it for a test drive, call us today at El Dorado Chevrolet.

One of the most expensive parts of owning a car is paying for gas. That’s why we’ve written a post on fuel efficiency tips to help you make the most of your driving. From getting the right car to driving habits and maintenance, there are a few things you can do to squeeze every last drop of gasoline for power.
According to Popular Mechanics, selecting the right car is one of the most important things. At El Dorado Chevy, we have a wide selection of efficient cars that help you save at the pump. The Malibu, Colorado, Spark, Cruze, Trax, and Bolt have exceptional gas mileage.
Proper maintenance also affects fuel economy. Make sure you’re getting oil changes every 3-5 months, or as needed, and check the tires, air filter, fuel filter, and other parts regularly. By ensuring your engine is well-lubricated and that airflow is smooth, your engine will fire with optimum efficiency.
Finally, reconsider your driving habits. Speeding on the highway tends to be one of the biggest causes of bad gas mileage, as added drag can reduce efficiency. You should also avoid rapid acceleration and hard braking—signs that you’re burning fuel at a high rate. Remain calm behind the wheel, and, if possible, try carpooling a few days out of the week to save more.
These are just some of the methods of saving more money at the pump.
Nowadays, the roads can seem scarier than ever with the ratcheting number of distracted drivers and the levels of danger on roads across the country. But, Chevy drivers can feel safer when their family is behind the wheel thanks to the newly-added FamilyLink from OnStar program, an exciting new information feature from one of Chevrolet’s longest-lasting partners in safety-first driving.
FamilyLink from OnStar is an opt-in expansion for OnStar subscribers that allows users to track any FamilyLink-enabled vehicle through the online OnStar portal. You can customize your FamilyLink experience by selecting when you’ll receive text message or email alerts, such as when the linked vehicle arrives safely at its destination or when it’s driving through inclement weather conditions. You can also remotely check the vehicle’s location at any time, information that only you and your pre-approved list of users have access to. Now, there’s no need for your loved ones to text or call from the road and lessen awareness while driving.
The best part? When you buy a new Chevy vehicle, Chevrolet is offering FamilyLink at no extra charge for the first three months, ensuring equal access to and knowledge of available safety features to all their customers.
If you think you and your family are ready for a safer-than-ever new ride, visit El Dorado Chevy to see our lineup of powerful Chevrolet models.
Tires are one of the most important parts of your car, especially since it’s the only component that touches the road. Bad tires can decrease fuel economy, reduce handling, and increase the likelihood of a breakdown. That’s why it’s important to get new tires when the time is right. How do you know if you need new tires? Read on to learn about checking tire tread.
One of the easiest ways, according to Pep Boys, is to try the penny test. Simply take a penny, flip it upside down, and put it in the middle of the tire tread. If you can see above Abe’s head, that means you have less than approximately 2/32 of an inch left on your tires. Any less, and it would be illegal in most states to drive.
You should also check tires for wear and tear. This includes bulges, cracking, and bald spots. Bald spots or patches of missing tread are often signs of misalignment because the vehicle is probably not riding properly. Bulging and cracking are signs that the rubber may be going bad. Additionally, tires should be replaced after about five years even if you don’t use them, as rubber compounds breakdown over time.
Not sure if you need new tires? At El Dorado Chevrolet, our specially trained staff can easily tell you if it’s time for new tires, a tire rotation, or if your pressure is getting low. Call or stop by for all your tire maintenance needs.
The Bolt EV safety features allow you to feel more comfortable behind the wheel in fact, many of these can be found on the entire 2017 model lineup. In addition to its impressive all-electric powertrain design that saves you money at the pump and eliminates emissions, the Bolt EV also recently earned a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). With the Bolt’s high-quality design and the latest technologies on the market, you can rest assured you’re safe when you’re driving the new Bolt EV.
The Bolt EV is the first all-electric vehicle for 2017 to earn the IIHS rating, which marks a landmark for this Chevy model. According to The Car Connection, the Bolt EV scored “good” on all crash tests and a “Superior” in the category of front crash prevention. The five tests the IIHS uses are the moderate overlap front, small overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraint.
The Bolt EV’s optional front crash prevention system will reduce the risk of and possibly prevent collisions at speeds of 12 to 25 mph. This is just one of many great aspects on the latest electric vehicle to come from the 2017 model lineup. As the number of Spanish speakers in the United States increases so does the number of Chevy owners requesting OnStar in Spanish. OnStar has had Spanish-speaker advisors for years, but the numbers of Spanish calls coming in is increasing.
In fact, Chevrolet says more than 1,000 Spanish speakers press the OnStar button every day, which is 30% more than in 2013.
“We understand that not all Chevrolet owners speak English fluently or at all…” said Terry Inch, executive director of GM’s Global Connected Customer Experience. “As a result, OnStar has a dedicated team of advisors who can help Spanish-speaking customers keep safe, connected and ready for the road ahead.”
Chevrolet owners can have their OnStar requests automatically routed to the Spanish team if they want. They can either set this up at the dealership with an OnStar welcome call or request the feature themselves at any time by pressing the blue OnStar button in their Chevrolet vehicle.
Every new Chevrolet vehicle includes the OnStar Basic Plan for five years at no charge. The Basic Plan includes great features like Dealer Maintenance Notification, Advanced Diagnostics, and access to the myChevrolet mobile app.
Here at El Dorado Chevrolet, we are here to help any of our customers with any of their OnStar needs.
Mother’s Day is right around the corner. It falls on May 14th this year, so there is still time to prepare a gift for your mom, wife, or other significant woman in your life. If your wife or mother is like most moms, she likely spends a lot of time in the car, driving to and from work, shuttling the kids here and there, and running errands. That is why car gifts for mom are not a bad idea.
Here are a few ideas to get you started.
- Car detailing – If the mom in your life is constantly toting children from one activity to the next, odds are high, her car is pretty dirty and covered in everything little kids leave behind. Surprise her with a car detailing so it looks and smells like new again.
- Satellite radio – Give her the gift of listening to whatever music she wants wherever she is without commercials. If her car is equipped with satellite radio already, buy her a subscription.
- Love notes – Write out a bunch of love notes and leave them hidden away in her car. Some she will find right away, but others might not appear for months. Every note she finds will fill her with joy.
If you want to get some car accessories for your mom, come visit us at El Dorado Chevrolet.
