The Chevrolet Colorado was named the Motor Trend Truck of the Year last year. And it has been recently announced that the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado has won the award yet again this year.
There’s no doubt that one of the reasons for all the attention this year is the addition of a highly efficient diesel option. It’s an engine so efficient in fact that it gives the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado the prestigious title of most fuel-efficient pickup truck sold in the US.
Versatility is largely what helped the Colorado rise to the top of the market. Part and parcel of that versatility had to do with great options. This new option is a 2.8-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine, delivering 181 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. In the two-wheel drive version, the engine helps the Colorado deliver the best-in-class fuel economy at 31 mpg on the highway.
As an article in CNET notes, equipped with a 21-gallon tank, this means that the Chevrolet Colorado diesel can go 651 miles on a tank. Now that’s a luxury that not a lot of truck owners have ever experienced. And now they can, thanks to Chevrolet ingenuity!
