The fourth Thursday of every month is Movies in the Bark at the Bonnie Wenk Park Amphitheater. This free event runs from 7-9 p.m. and is dog-friendly. In March, catch Benji; in April, watch Show Dogs; and in May, you’ll see Sgt. Stubby.
Hoopin’ with the Blue
Play basketball with the McKinney Policy Department on March 29th from 8-10 p.m. at this free event, held at the McKinney YMCA.
11th Annual Texas Trash-Off
Ahead of Earth Day later in the month, attend the 11th Annual Texas Trash-Off to collect litter at Bonnie Wenk Park from 9 11:30 a.m. The event is followed by a celebration lunch.
Arts in Bloom
This free event runs the whole weekend from April 12-14 in Historic Downtown McKinney. During the event, 150 artists will set up displays on the streets surrounding the McKinney Performing Arts Center.

11th Annual McKinney OktoberFest
The McKinney Oktoberfest has been a tradition in Downtown McKinney since 2008. This year, the three-day event will be held on Friday, September 28, from 5 to 11:30 p.m.; Saturday, September 29, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.; and Sunday, September 30, from noon to 5 p.m. Tickets are on sale now online. The event includes delicious German food like brats and schnitzel, as well as scrumptious German beer. Entertainment includes a carnival, the Bavarian Experience stage, games, contests, parades, petting zoos, live music, and more.
Scare on the Square
If fall is more of a Halloween season to you, you’ll enjoy Historic Downtown McKinney’s Scare on the Square event held on Wednesday, October 31, from 4 to 7 p.m. This event is free to the public. Bring the whole family for a day of fun, with activities like pumpkin races, a costume contest, and a concert.

Bike the Bricks
On Friday, May 25th, head to Historic Downtown McKinney for an epic bike race that lasts from 3pm to 11pm. The event is free to watch, though if you have racing in your blood, you will have to pay to enter and compete for the grand prize of $25,000. As a spectator, you can enjoy food, spirits, and family-friendly activities while you witness the event.
Red, White and BOOM!
There is no Fourth of July celebration like Red, White and BOOM! Held downtown on Independence Day, this festivity includes dining, shopping, a car show, block party, parade, concert, fireworks display, and more. It truly is an all-day event to engage the whole family.
Summer technically ends a littler earlier in September, but here in Texas, the summer heat will still be hanging out for the McKinney Oktoberfest, held from September 28th through 30th. Enjoy food, drinks, family activities, and live entertainment.
