Krewe of Barkus

The 18th annual McKinney Krewe of Barkus will be held on Sunday, February 23, in historic downtown. The event, which features a parade of over 250 costumed dogs as well as a festival held in Mitchell Park, is modeled after the New Orleans tradition of the same name that aims to fundraise for animal welfare. This year, thousands of spectators are expected to attend the parade that will feature pups of all sizes dressed as pop idols.

Arts in Bloom

The McKinney Main Street collective is hosting the Arts in Bloom event in early spring from April 17 – 19 in historic downtown. During the festival, over 150 artists from local schools and the Artist Village will converge to sell and showcase paintings, sculptures, jewelry, and photography. Festival-goers can enjoy free admission and a free shuttle to transport them to the event, which includes live music, delicious food, and a Kids Creation Station to entertain and enrich the little ones.

Celebrating 85 Years of the Chevrolet Suburban

Chevrolet Suburban in McKinney, TX

The Chevrolet Suburban is a fan favorite because of its luxurious appearance, spacious interior, and family-friendly features. Thanks to the Suburban’s loyal following, the full-size SUV recently celebrated its 85th birthday. Keep reading to learn more about the Suburban’s history.

A True Pioneer

When the Chevy Suburban reached its 85th birthday back in November 2019, it became the first vehicle in history to do so. No other vehicle has been in production for as long as the Chevy Suburban’s impressive 85-year run, which makes the Suburban the auto industry’s longest-running nameplate.

Humble Beginnings

The Suburban was introduced way back in 1935 as the Chevy Carryall. Though the name changed over time, the premise — a comfortable interior built for passengers upon the frame of a capable pickup — has remained the same. Believe it or not, a few other automakers have introduced a Suburban model, but only the Chevrolet Suburban made history.

Today’s Suburban

The 2020 Chevy Suburban is the culmination of 85 years of continuous improvement in engineering, capability, and comfort. The current nine-seater model produces up to 383 lb-ft of torque and 355 horsepower with its V8 engine, which makes it capable of towing up to 8,300 pounds when properly equipped.

El Dorado Chevrolet has a variety of new and used Suburban models in stock today. Check out our lot to see for yourself why the full-size SUV has stood the test of time.
